Jan. 6 Greg Klyma. From Upstate New York, Greg Klyma is a talented, literate and often witty singer-songwriter whose compositions can touch many subjects. His CD from last year Not a Complicated Guy has been receiving kudos nationally. He makes his Homegrown Music debut with a new collection of original songs not previously released.

Jan. 7 Andrew Cheshire Quartet. Milanville, PA, guitarist and composer Andrew Cheshire was heard on Homegrown Music in November performing for the first time on piano. For this session, he returns to his first instrument, the guitar, joined by three talent young jazz musicians who together put in an impressive performance of both jazz standards and original compositions by Cheshire. Jan. 13 A Homegrown Music Concert featuring THE KENNEDYS and WE'RE ABOUT 9. WVIA-FM's unique monthly series of live two-hour concert broadcasts begins the new year with two outstanding national-level artists from states adjoining Pennsylvania, both of whose recent CDs were featured on the WVIA's Mixed Bag weekly album review series.

The Kennedys
Maura & Pete Kennedy
The Kennnedys are Pete and Maura Kennedy, who have been fixtures on the New Folk scene since the late 1980s. The husband-wife duo create wonderfully catchy original music, with thoughtful lyrics, that draw on such great influences as the Byrds and the Beatles, and carries them into the 21st Century.

We're About 9 is a young trio from Maryland whose music is a delightful, mostly-acoustic amalgam of influences. With almost achingly beautiful melodies and outstanding vocal harmonies, the group has been attracting audiences from Virginia to Vermont. They make their Homegrown Music debut in what promises to be a memorable performance.

As usual, WVIA's listeners are invited to attend the live broadcast at the station's Pittston studios. Admission is free by advance reservation. Phone 570-655-2808 for reservations. (Note: Start time 8:00 PM.)

Jan. 20 A Homegrown Music Anthology: Humorous and Novelty Songs. Over the years, Homegrown Music has presented some hilarious, quirky or just downright delightfully weird songs. For this week's segment, HGM producer George Graham gathers together a fun collection of some of these eccentricities.

Jan. 27 Professor and Maryann. Named after a pair of characters on Gilligan's Island, this nationally-acclaimed duo of Ken Rockwood and Danielle Brancaccio have attracted a virtual cult following worldwide. Their airy, romantic, sometimes cryptic songs, performed in a stark acoustic setting, have won many critics' awards over the course of nearly a half dozen albums. This encore of their 2001 Homegrown Music appearance features many of the songs which would be later included on their current CD Runaway Favorite.
