Apr. 6 Greg Klyma. Upstate New York singer-songwriter Greg Klyma made his Homegrown Music debut in January with collection of astute and often witty songs. He returns for more of his original songs (and one by a friend) is a solo acoustic setting.
Apr. 12 A Homegrown Music Concert with DAVE'S TRUE STORY and SWEARINGEN/BEEDLE. After more than 20 years on Tuesday nights, the Homegrown Music Concert series moves to Mondays, with series debut of an outstanding, but difficult to describe group, and a classic-style folk duo.
Dave's True Story combines cool jazz sensibility with clever, often witty writing that won them awards at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Founded in 1992 by guitarist and songwriter Dave Cantor and chanteuse Kelly Flint, they expanded to a trio with the addition of bassist Jeff Eyrich and have has three-nationally released, and critically-praised CDs under their belt.
The Lehigh Valley singer-songwriter duo of A.J. Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle are masters of the classic folk-style music with superb vocal harmonies, in the Simon & Garfunkel tradition. In fact, Swearingen/Beedle have done S&G tributes, but on their Homegrown Music debut, they will be performing their outstanding and appealing original songs.
As usual the live two-hour concert-broadcast at WVIA's Public Broadcasting Center headquarters is open to WVIA's listeners. Phone 570-655-2808 for free reservations. (Note: Start time 8:00 PM)

Apr. 20 Bedful of Metaphysicians. In the 1980s, Bedful of Metaphysicians was one of the more memorable groups to emerge from Homegrown Music. Combining art-rock, fusion and electronics along with clever, off-the-wall lyrics, the group released an LP in 1986 which received high praise in "Spin" magazine and has since become a cult item. For the first time in almost 20 years, original members Charlie "Dirt Condominium" Alexander and Jody Kennedy reunite for a new Bedful project that embodies all the disparate music elements and creativity that made them infamous.

Apr. 21 A Homegrown Jazz Special with DAVID LIEBMAN and PHIL
MARKOWITZ. Two Poconos-based, international figures in jazz reunite for
their first new recording together in many years. David Liebman, after emerging
as a member of the pioneering jazz-rock band Ten Wheel Drive, went on to become
a key part of Miles Davis' seminal fusion group in the 1970s. With over 75
albums to his name, and the author of some 10 books, the saxophonist and
composer has been leading his own David Liebman Group for close to 20 years.
Pianist Markowitz was a founding member of the group, before to leaving to
pursue his own career. Markowitz has the distinction of having composed a piece
while still in his teens that was debuted by the late, great jazz pianist Bill
Evans. The two virtuosic musicians perform in an intimate duo setting playing
compositions by both in what promises to be a major jazz event.
