Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham. Homegrown Music (HGM), presents new performances most Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. December's special feature is the annual end-of-the-year sampler on the 28th and a Homegrown Jazz Sampler on the 29th. Dec. 7 Kate Morrissey. A fine pianist, vocalist and songwriter from Central PA, Ms. Morrissey is a fairly recent addition to the regional music scene after immigrating from South Dakota. Her sometimes evokes the wide-open feeling of the Great Plains, but also runs toward the introspective. With her fine voice and literate lyrics, she makes an impressive debut on Homegrown Music.

Dec. 14 Lisa Moscatiello and Rosie Shipley. Lisa Moscatiello made her Homegrown Music debut in 2000 with a memorable live concert featuring her remarkable, soaring vocals in the company of Celtic harp legend Sue Richards. This time, Ms. Moscatiello appears with fiddle player Rosie Shipley for a wonderful set running from traditional Celtic music to contemporary songs to instrumentals.

Dec. 21 The Alice Project. Alice Leon is a New Jersey-based pianist, singer and songwiter who creates smart, appealing songs that combine musical sophistication with clever lyrics. Her band includes guitarist Jimmy Leahy, son of jazz guitar legend Harry Leahy, in this encore of a memorable 2001 session.

Dec. 28 The Annual Homegrown Music Year-End Sampler. Each year Homegrown Music presents over 40 new performances by the best in regional artists. This 90-minute special presents an eclectic cross-section of both the weekly studio recording sessions and the monthly live concerts. Note: Start time: 8:30 PM.

Dec. 29 A Homegrown Music Jazz Sampler. During 2004, many outstanding jazz musicians have appeared on the series, in both studio recordings and live concerts during the year. This special segment features a selection of the jazz performances the series has presented during the year. Note: Airtime 7:00 PM, during WVIA's All That Jazz.
