Sep. 6 The Strand. From the Homegrown Music Archive comes this 1994 session by a memorable progressive rock band from the Scranton area. The unfortunately short-lived quartet combined outstanding musicianship with great original material. (Encore)

Sep. 13 Tom Dennehy. World traveler and singer-songwriter Tom Dennehy spends most of his time in faraway places, teaching English in locations like Japan, Morocco, Spain and India. But he returns to his hometown of Danville, PA, each year or so and usually has a new batch of his distinctive and frequently witty songs often inspired by his travels. His latest homecoming visit provides some new songs about typically unlikely topics. This time he is joined by guitarist Jeremy Bitner.

Ellen Schwartz and Roger Bruno of Too Human

Sep. 20 Too Human. The musical and marital duo of Ellen Schwartz and Roger Bruno used to be based on Los Angeles writing songs for the pop stars, but found the environment there restricting. So they decided to return "back East" and concentrate on their own music. Since the mid 1990s, they have made a number of appearances on Homegrown Music. This 2002 session features some of their thoughtful songs in a mostly acoustic setting. (Encore)

Sep. 21 A Homegrown Jazz Special with TOM GAVORNIK. Creative jazz guitarist Tom Gavornik returns to Homegrown Music for a new collection of his extended trio improvisations, with bassist Steve Lucas (who has worked with Bruce Cockburn), and drummer Kirk Driscoll. Note: Start time 7:00 PM, during WVIA's "All That Jazz."

Sep. 27 SGR. From the Lehigh Valley and nearby New Jersey comes this 8-piece funk and ska band featuring a tight horn section, and danceable original material. Together since 1996, SGR have toured up and down the East Coast, performing regularly in the WVIA listening area. They make their Homegrown Music debut in their session featuring some of their newest music.

Sep. 28 Homegrown Music Live from the Bloomsburg Fair. As a special presentation, Homegrown Music will present a live radio/TV performance from the Bloomsburg Fair simulcast on WVIA-FM and WVIA-TV. Check the WVIA website or phone 570-655-2808 for more information on performers. Note: Airtime 8:00-9:00 PM.
