July 11 Chris Orbach. Born into a family of performers, Chris Orbach has had career in theater and is a successful voiceover actor, but he had always been drawn to his music. Last year, he released his debut CD Safely Through the Night, which has been featured on WVIA's Mixed Bag program. Singer-songwriter Orbach's music draws on folk, rock and jazz influence. Now he makes his Homegrown Music debut performing a collection of new songs, most of which have not yet been released on CD. He is joined by a fine band, including musicians who appeared on his CD.

July 17 A Homegrown Music Live Concert featuring MINAS and RIPPLETREE EFFECT. WVIA's unique series of monthly live concert broadcasts continues with performances by two distinctive Eastern Pennsylvania ensembles.

Minas: Patricia King and Orlando Haddad

Minas, from the southeastern part the state is an outstanding Brazilian-style group. Featuring Orlando Haddad and Patricia King, Minas have been performing together for 15 years now. They have just released their latest CD Orlando and Patricia in Rio which has already been getting favorable reviews, and has been featured on WVIA's All That Jazz program. They will be making their Homegrown Music debut performing their appealing mix of mostly original bossa nova, jazz and World Music.

Formerly known as Barefoot, under which name they previously appeared on HGM, Rippletree Effect is a young, creative group from the Wyoming Valley who combine rock, bluegrass and strong songwriting. With several members of the same family, they include fiddle, mandolin, guitars, plus rock bass and drums in their appealing, energetic mix.

Mere Mortals at WVIA in 2001: The ubiquitous Marko Marcinko, Mark Keisinger, Ed Appnel, Patrick Flynn

July 18 Mere Mortals. This outstanding regional rock band existed in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area for most of the 1990s. They were known for their sophisticated arrangements and thoughtful writing. They made several appearance on Homegrown Music, and this encore features highlights from their studio sessions.

July 19 A Homegrown Jazz Special with THE EDDIE SEVERN QUARTET. Eddie Severn is a talented world-class British-born jazz trumpeter now residing in the Poconos. For his Homegrown Music debut, he is joined by an all-star group of some of the region's best jazz players: pianist Jesse Green, bassist Paul Rostock and drummer Marko Marcinko. The group is heard performing Severn's outstanding original compositions.

July 25 Kate & CJ. The long-running Poconos folk duo of Kate Jordan and CJ McKenna return to Homegrown Music after a nearly five-year absence. Their return is most welcome as they perform a collection of wonderful new original compositions marked by their thoughtful lyrics and superb vocal harmonies.
