Oct. 3 Tom Parella. A fine singer-songwriter from Southeastern Pennsylvania, Tom Parella combines thoughtful lyrics with a pleasing vocal style. This encore from 1998 features a cross-section of his original songs.

Oct. 9 A Live Homegrown Music Concert with MIKE AGRANOFF and LESLIE CLEMMONS.. WVIA's unique series of monthly live two-hour studio concert broadcasts resumes with an evening of acoustic music.

Mike Agranoff

New Jersey resident Mike Agranoff is known for his witty original songs and satires, as well as his clever spoken-word performances. He returns for his second Homegrown Music concert, this time performing on piano, as well as guitar and concertina.

Singer-songwriter Leslie Clemmons is known for her intelligent songs ranging from the humorous to the poignant. Her CD Waiting for My Conviction has been getting national attention and winning critical praise. Earlier this year, she put in a HGM recording session. Now she makes her Homegrown Music concert debut, joined by her husband, pianist and producer Ron Clemmons, as well as additional band members.

As usual, WVIA's listeners and members are invited to be part of the studio audience at the station's Public Broadcasting Center headquarters. Free audience seating is available by advance reservation. Phone 570-655-2808 to place reservations. Start time: 8:00 PM.

Kate Morrissey at the WVIA Steinway

Oct. 10 Kate Morrissey. An outstanding singer-songwriter and pianist originally from South Dakota, Kate Morrissey has been a resident of Bellefont, PA for the past few years. Her songs often reflect the wide-open spaces of her childhood home. But she also touches many other subjects in her original songs, in this encore recorded in 2004.

Oct. 17 From Good Homes. This folk rock band, which made one of their first appearances on WVIA, became quite popular nationally during the 1990s, with some major-label releases. The group's lead vocalist and principal songwriter more recently went on to become a member of Railroad Earth, another HGM veteran group who have gone on to a reputation on the jam band circuit. This encore features From Good Homes' late 1980s Homegrown Music sessions.

Oct. 24 Jonathan Beedle. Bethlehem singer-songwriter Jonathan Beedle last appeared on Homegrown Music in a duo with A.J. Swearingen. Beedle recently relerased a solo CD, and he returns to Homegrown Music to perform a new collection of original material, including a song which has been used nationally in the Race for a Cure anti-cancer campaign.

Oct. 31 A Homegrown Music Halloween Anthology. Homegrown Music producer George Graham dips into the archive and presents a bunch of spooky songs, musical ghost stories, and generally weird stuff written and performed over the years by regional artists on the Homegrown Music series.
