Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham. A special feature during September is a Homegrown Jazz special on the 26th. Sept. 4 Joe Rathbone. Singer-songwriter Joe Rathbone has released several CDs and appeared on the Homegrown Music series at least three times. He recently relocated to Nashville, and just released a new CD called Under the Scorpio Moon, which contains some of the songs he recorded for Homegrown Music in his last appearance in 2005. This Encore features that session and the acoustic performances of those songs which would end up on the new CD two years later. |

Sept. 11 Cabinet. This outstanding and eclectic young 6-piece
Northeastern PA bluegrass band has already been attracting a lot of attention
in the region. They make their series debut with an impressive collection of
original music featuring veteran drummer/percussionist Jamie Novak.

Sept. 18 Jim Gilmour Band. A fine singer-songwriter and
multi-instumentalist, whose CD Quarterline was featured on the Mixed Bag
weekly album review, Jim Gilmour brought his group to appear on Homegrown Music
to perform acoustic versions of his thoughtful and appealing songs. Their 2006
session is featured in this Encore.

Sept. 25 Hillbilly Water. Two of the members of this hot bluegrass trio are also members of the roots-rock band Cosmic American Derelicts, who recently appeared on Homegrown Music. Hillbilly Water serves up a collection of traditional and original tunes, marked by impressive musicianship.

Sept. 26 A Homegrown Jazz Special with ANDY MILNE. Canadian-born
jazz pianist Andy Milne has spanned a wide range of music, performing straight
ahead jazz, fusion with his band Dapp Theory, and also performing and recording
with singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn, with whom he also collaborated in
composing. Milne is now a resident of Pike County in Northeastern PA, and he
makes his Homegrown Music debut with a solo piano performance consisting mostly
of fascinating jazz arrangements of familiar rock and folk tunes by the likes
of Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, along with original compositions.
