Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham. Homegrown Music (HGM), presents new performances most Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. February's special features include a live concert on the 11th, and a Homegrown Archive segment on the 26th. Note: Homegrown Music will be preempted on the 5th because of primary election coverage. Feb. 11 A Live Homegrown Music Concert with THE FIVE PERCENT and JASON O. WVIA's unique monthly series of live radio concert broadcasts from the new WVIA studio theater continue with an acclaimed Northeastern Pennsylvania rock band and a talented acoustic singer-songwriter from the Clifford, PA area.

The Five Percent is known for their sophisticated original material that features contemporary 21st Century stylistic ingredients combined with the tried-and-true rock staples of first-rate vocals, tasteful guitar work and great writing. The band has released two well-received CDs and has toured nationally. They put in a studio recording on Homegrown Music last year, and they return for a live concert.

Jason O (Olcese) is an outstanding young singer-songwriter who started as a drummer and make the transition to guitar and vocal. But one can still hear the rhythmic drive in his appealing original songs. He is in the process of completing his debut full-length album, and will be previewing some of the songs from the CD in his performance.

Feb. 12 Tina Gray. From Throop, PA, singer-songwriter Tina Gray makes her Homegrown Music debut with an enjoyable collection of original music performed in a solo acoustic setting on guitar and piano.

Feb. 19 Mat Burke. Making his first appearance on Homegrown Music, Mat Burke is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Clarks Summit, PA, who was smitten at a young age by Bob Dylan and the classic 1960s folkies. He has absorbed their music well, along with adding some more contemporary influences in his thoughtful, literate original songs that are performed in a classic solo folk context.

Feb. 26 A Homegrown Music Archive Special with PAVLOV'S DAWGS. Pavlov's Dawgs were a highly eclectic bluegrass quartet from the Lehigh Valley who applied their arranging skills to some of the most unlikely songs for a bluegrass band to perform, from Rolling Stones to Talking Heads. They put in several appearances on Homegrown Music in the late 1980s and early 1990s before going their separate ways. Ten years ago, they decided to have a reunion, and this HGM segment features that session that brought back together these outstanding musicians with a set of arrangements cooked up specially for their 1998 reunion.
