Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham. February's features include a live concert on the 9th and a Homegrown Music Archive feature on the 10th. Feb. 3 Julia Joseph. A singer-songwriter whose acoustic sound is infectiously rhythmic, Julia Joseph's 2007 debut CD Hush attracted national attention, and was been featured on WVIA's Mixed Bag. This encore of her Homegrown Music debut from late 2007 includes a collection of new non-album songs. She is joined by acoustic bassist Jeff Eyrich (Dave's True Story) and percussionist/vocalist KK Kairos.

Feb. 9 A Homegrown Music Concert with HICKORY PROJECT and BILLY ROGAN. WVIA's unique series of monthly live two-hour concert broadcasts this month features an evening of acoustic music with bluegrass and a solo guitar instrumentalist.

Hickory Project is a long-running bluegrass band from the Wellsboro area, with members the Carbondale area. They tour internationally, including to Australia, and are nationally acclaimed in the bluegrass world. They also present their own annual bluegrass festival (Hickory Fest). Their last Homegrown Music concert in 2003 was a big hit, so after too long a gap, they return for what promises to be another great performance.

Billy Rogan is an acoustic guitar virtuoso from the Clarks Summit area. Influenced by the percussive style of Michael Hedges and others innovative guitarists, he performs original instrumental compositions as well as his distinctive arrangements of others' music. He makes his Homegrown Music concert debut.

Feb. 10 Zen for Primates. This highly distinctive Lehigh Valley band has been a popular institution for close to 20 years. Their combination of distinctive instrumentation with violin, and their theatrical presentation makes for always interesting and beguiling music. This "Deep Archive" presentation is a reprise of the band's first Homegrown Music session from 1992.

Feb. 17 Van Wagner. One of the region's more prolific songwriters (with 11 CDs released), Danville, PA, resident is an always welcome guest on Homegrown Music with his sometimes poignant, sometimes humorous original folk-style songs, many of them set in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He debuts a new collection of songs in this solo recording session.

Feb. 25 Stacie Rose. New Jersey singer-songwriter Stacie Rose recently released a CD called Shotgun Daisy which has been featured on Mixed Bag. She returns to Homegrown Music after a more than five-year hiatus to perform some of her new songs in a pleasing acoustic band setting. Note: Special Day.
