May 5 Jamie Leonhart. A fine jazz-influenced vocalist and
composer, Jamie Leonhart is part of a talented family, including her husband,
Steely Dan trumpeter Michael Leonhart, and her father-in-law jazz bass great
Jay Leonhart. Jamie Leonhart performs a collection of her fine songs, in
"chanteuse" style in the company of her husband and an excellent small group,
in this encore from 2007.

May 12 Dakota/Jerry-Kelly. On May 13, Mixed Bag, the program of
which Homegrown Music is a part, marks its 35th anniversary as a daily part of
WVIA's schedule. To mark the occasion, George Graham goes into the archive for
early recordings in 1977 and 1978 by Jerry Hludzik and Bill Kelly just as they
were founding the band that would become Dakota, and later tour worldwide with
Queen and others. The group's Homegrown Music recordings were what got the band
signed to their record deal at the time. This encore spotlights many of those
original recordings, digitally restored.

May 13 A Homegrown Jazz Special with THE EDDIE SEVERN TRIO.
British-born trumpeter Eddie Severn has been part of the regional scene for a
few years now, appearing at regional jazz festivals, and performing as a part
of the Phil Woods' Big Band. He makes his second appearance on Homegrown Music
with a new set of original pieces inspired by the paintings of M.C. Escher. He
is joined by acclaimed pianist Phil Markowitz and bassist Paul Rostock.

May 18 A Live Homegrown Music Concert with MIKE AGRANOFF and CABINET. WVIA's unique series of monthly live concert-broadcasts continues with a popular folk-humorist, and an up-and-coming regional bluegrass/jam band just signed to a national record label.

Mike Agranoff combines an expertise in traditional music with a great
sense of humor to create songs ranging from hilarious parodies to engrossing
storytelling, and he's a multi-instrumentalist to boot. He returns to Homegrown
Music for another appearance with a new collection of material.

Cabinet is a young Northeastern Pennsylvania band who have been attracting
ever-increasing audiences with their blend of bluegrass, rock and jam-band
music. They caught the eye of Ropeadope Records (Dirty Dozen Brass Band;
Medesky, Martin & Wood), who are releasing their debut recording for the
label. To mark their release they make their Homegrown Music concert debut for
what promises to be a great evening of energetic music.

May 19 Mike Miz. Guitarist and singer-songwriter Mike Mizwinski
was a guest during Billy Rogan's live Homegrown Music concert set back in
February. Recently he was invited to tour in a revival of the art-rock band
Gong. He makes his series debut leading his own group, including his father
Mike Mizwinski, Sr., and bassist Jim D'Assenzo, with some fine original songs
marked by outstanding guitar work.

May 26 Lisa Moscatiello with Rosie Shipley. Celtic-influenced
music is featured in this memorable session from 2004 featuring guitarist and
vocalist extraordinaire Lisa Moscatiello and fiddler Rosie Shipley.
