Aug. 4 A Homegrown Music Anthology of Short-Lived Bands and One-Time Guests. Homegrown Music has presented over 1500 different bands and artists over the years. While many have returned several times, some groups did not last very long. In some cases, their only recording was for Homegrown Music. This segment features a sampling of some memorable music from those ephemeral bands, and performers who made a single appearance.

Aug. 11 56 Men. Named after the assemblage of people who signed the Declaration of Independence, this Southeast-PA area quintet of long-time rock veterans recently released an eponymous CD that has been getting national airplay, including on WVIA's Mixed Bag. The group comprises members of a band called the Patriots who appeared on Homegrown Music some 20 years ago. 56 Men group perform their high-quality original rock, marked by strong vocals and harmonies.

Aug. 18 And the Moneynotes. From the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, this seven-member band serves up eclectic music that runs from bluegrass-influenced to rock to Old Timey. Among the group's members is violin phenom Coleman Smith, and their instrumentation also includes both grand piano and washboard. It's definitely high-spirited, fun music.

Aug. 25 Tom Dennehy. World traveler and eclectic singer-songwriter Tom Dennehy calls Danville home when he is not living and teaching English in such locales as Morocco, Japan, Spain and exotic California. Each time he makes a visit home, he brings with him a new batch of his unique songs that reflect some of the cultural influences where he has been spending his time, as well as his ample wit and appealing quirkiness. Once again, his main instrument is his ukulele.
