Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. A special feature during February is a live Homegrown Music concert broadcast in the 18th. Homegrown Music will be preempted on the 12th for the State of the Union Address. Feb. 18 A Live Homegrown Music Concert with THE CLICKARD CONSORTIUM and CRAIG ALAN. WVIA's unique series of monthly live radio concert-broadcasts this month features a jazz big band and a soul and funk-influenced singer-songwriter and his group.

The Clickard Consortium is a 10-piece "little big band" founded by trumpeter and arranger Stephen Clickard, the chairperson of the Music, Theatre and Dance department at Bloomsburg University. The band includes first rate musicians from Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania performing creative arrangements of jazz standards and original compositions.

Craig Alan is the founder of the band OTiS, a jazzy funk band who put in a memorable Homegrown Music studio session last year. With OTiS' members having gone their separate ways, principal composer and lead vocalist Alan has assembled a new band to perform new original material with a more acoustic, but still soulful sound.

As usual, WVIA's members and listeners are invited to attend the two-hour concert broadcast in the station's Sordoni Theater. Admission is free by advance reservation. Reservations may be made at the WVIA website at wvia.org, or by calling 570-655-2808. Note: Start time: 8:00 PM.

Gleason's Drift

Feb. 19 Gleason's Drift. From the Pottsville, PA, area comes Gleason's Drift, a great blues-influenced rock band making their Homegrown Music debut with some new original music.

Feb. 26 Cosmic Stepping Stones. This Homegrown Music Archive presentation is a 2003 session featuring the delightful and ethereal original music of Cosmic Stepping Stones, a trio from Upstate New York. The centerpiece of their sound is the composing and vocals of Leah Pinnivaia.
