Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. The Homegrown Music Live Concert series returns fora new season on the 14th with two ourstanding young rock acts from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Oct. 1 Rick Hornyak. Roots-rock singer-songwriter Rick Hornyak makes his Homegrown Music debut with a fine collection of original songs with his four-piece band. His CD Marigold and his more recent eponymous EP have been featured on WVIA's Mixed Bag. A Pennsylvania native, Hornyak has been living in Texas recently, but he returned to his home area to perform and included a stop at WVIA and Homegrown Music.

Oct. 8 Tauk. A virtousic instrumental rock and fusion band, Long Island-based Tauk performed for the second year in a row at the Peach Festival in Scranton recently with the Allman Brothers Band. Their new CD Homunculus was the subject of a Mixed Bag weekly album review. They return to Homegrown Music for a new collection of their remarkable original music.

Oct. 14 A Live Homegrown Music Concert Broadcast with THREE IMAGINARY BOYS and MICHI EGGER. The Homegrown Music live radio concert series returns for a new season with two outstanding young rock acts from Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Three Imaginary Boys have been winning considerable kudos for their tight, original melodic pop that often recalls the 1960s British Invasion. Marked by memorable melodies and strong vocal harmonies, their music has has cross-generational appeal, as well showing impressive musicianship. Their CD from last year People Wearing Masks has been a regular on WVIA's Mixed Bag, and the band put in a studio recording earlier this year. They make their Homegrown Music concert debut.

Michi Egger is barely out of her teens, but has already had several years experience peforming. She put in a memorable appearance as a member of Ann Kerstetter's blues band for her jaw-dropping guitar work. But she has also released a great CD as a pop singer-songwriter, and also appeared prviously in a Homegrown Music session from the studio. She band her band likewise make their Homegrown Music concert debut.

The two-hour live radio concert can be heard on WVIA-FM at 8 PM, and WVIA's members and listeners are invited to attend in the station's Sordoni Theater. Free reservations are required, which may be made at http://wvia.org or by phone at 570-655-2808. Note: Start time: 8:00 PM.

Oct. 15 The Dave Isaacs Trio. A versatile musician, Dave Isaacs was part of a roots-rock group called Jackelope Junction, and also performed as a solo singer-songwriter. This is an encore of a blues-influenced session Isaacs did with a trio in 2005.

Oct. 22 Rogue Chimp. A great genre-defying instrumental band from the Scranton area, Rogue Chimp combines techno synthesizer sounds with jazz-rock influence and features violin prominently in their instrumentation. This is an encore of their session from 2010.

Oct. 29 Homegrown Music Anthology Special: Spooky Songs. Leading up to Halloween, Homegrown Music producer George Graham goes into the archive and pulls out some appropriately spooky original songs by regional artists from the series over the years.
