Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. Special features during April include an April Fool's Day set of humorous songs, and a live Homegrown Music Concert Broadcast on the 14th. Apr. 1 A Homegrown Music Anthology: An April Fools Set of Humorous and Novelty Songs. From the Homegrown Music archive, producer George Graham digs up a few of the humorous, quirky, satirical and strange original songs that have appeared on the series over the years.

Alfa Garcia at WVIA

Apr. 8 Alfa Garcia. Filipino-born singer-songwriter Alfa Garcia (known professionally by her first same) returns to Homegrown Music for a new collection of her appealing original music performed in a solo acoustic setting, including some songs on ukulele.

Apr. 14 A Homegrown Music Concert with CLARENCE BUCARO and ROGUE CHIMP. WVIA's distinctive series of monthly live two-hour concert broadcasts continues with performers in two very different styles, an acoustic folk artist and an electronic instrumental group.

Clarence Bucaro is an Ohio-born singer-songwriter who became enamored with soulful New Orleans-style music. In several albums over the years, including one featured on the Mixed Bag Weekly Album Review, Bucaro has been winning national audiences and critics with his easy-going style and "sweet, buttery" vocals. After settling in New York State, he made his Homegrown Music debut last year in a studio session. He makes his first Homegrown Music live concert appearance.

Rogue Chimp at WVIA

Rogue Chimp are a creative instrumental band from the Scranton and Clarks Summit, PA, area. They combine synthesizer and electronic beats with a violin in a danceable but musically fascinating mix. They return to the Homegrown Music concert series after a memorable appearance in 2011.

Apr. 15 Brazz Tree. The duo of violinist/vocalist Mazz Swift and acoustic guitarist Brad Hammonds put in a couple of Homegrown Music studio appearances and a live concert while they were together. They performed a fascinating and eclectic stylistic mix that included Celtic influence, old psychedelic rockers and a lot of first-rate original music. This encore features highlights from the group's studio sessions in 2006 and 2007.

Alan Semerdjian at WVIA

Apr. 22 Alan Semerdjian. Singer-songwriter Alan Semerdjian has been on the music scene for a number of years in various capacities, including as a member of the alternative band Surreal in the 1990s. His recent music has taken a turn toward the contemplative, on his latest CD Quiet Songs for Loud Times. He makes his Homegrown Music debut with a new collection of songs beyond the CD, performed in a solo acoustic setting.

Apr. 29 Honey King. A delightful acoustic trio from New Jersey, Honey King consists of musicians who had otherwise played in electric blues bands. Focusing on thoughtful music and strong vocal harmonies, the group made a Homegrown Music concert appearance in 2013. This segment is an encore of their debut studio session for HGM from 2012.
