Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. A special feature during March is a Homegrown Music concert on the 23rd an a Homegrown Jazz segment on the 25th during WVIA’s All That Jazz at 7:00 PM. Mar. 3 Tauk. The remarkable instrumental quartet has become a major sensation the jam band scene. Their original music is notable for its multi-layered sophistication with great grooves, often in unusual time-signatures. Tauk put in a memorable live Homegrown Music concert in September. This segment is an encore of a session from 2013 with material which would later appear on their latest CD Collisions. |

Mar. 10 Jason O A talented singer-songwriter from Clifford, PA, Jason Olcese is known for his appealing original songs often with a funk-influenced rhythmic groove, which grew out of his background as a drummer. This encore features excepts of three of Jason’s sessions between 2007 and 2010 including performances with his looping devices. (Originally scheduled for broadcast Jan.20.)

Mar. 17 The Jolly Tars. For St. Patrick’s Day, the duo of Ken Purcell (known for his work with the Celtic group the Shanachians) and Jake Laubach perform an entertaining set of old traditional tunes, including sea shanties, Celtic songs and folk songs from both sides of the Atlantic. This is part two of an extensive recording session by the duo, the first part of which was broadcast in January. |

Mar. 23 A Homegrown Music Concert with MIKE AGRONOFF and LESSI TEICH. WVIA’s unique series of monthly live radio concerts continues with the welcome return of a great folksinger and humorist along with an up-and-coming singer-songwriter-pianist.

Mike Agranoff plays material ranging from traditional folk songs to hilarious musical satire, along with some occasional storytelling in verse. He performs on guitar and concertina and often invites audience participation. |
Jessi Teich is from the Philadelphia area and recently released her album Twisted Soul, recorded in Paris. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, she draws on swing-area jazz, soul, ballads and more contemporary influences served up with a touch of jazz influence. She makes her Homegrown Music debut with her band. |

Mar. 24 From Good Homes. This folk-rock group became nationally popular and was signed to a major label in the 1990s. Their principal songwriter and lead vocalist Todd Scheaffer later went on to found the acclaimed bluegrass-influenced jam band Railroad Earth. This Encore features music taken from their various Homegrown Music studio sessions.
Mar. 25 A Homegrown Jazz Special with JAMES WITHERITE. Central Pennsylvania composer and keyboard man James Witherite has an interesting and wide-ranging career spanning leading a big band, playing bugle and trumpet at horse-racing tracks and recording a CD with an organ combo. It is the latter aspect that is featured on his Homegrown Music debut. He is joined by Tim Breon on guitar with an appealing, swinging organ-based show. Note: Start time 7:00 PM, during WVIA’s All That Jazz.

Mar. 31 Matt Miskie. A fine singer-songwriter now living in the Lebanon, PA area, Matt Miskie appeared on Homegrown Music several times in the 1980s and 1990s. Since then, he has continued to perform and a number of his songs have been done by other artists. He returns to the series for the first time in 20 years with a new collection of his appealing songs.
