Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. A special feature during April is a Homegrown Music concert with singer/songwriters Judy Kass and Jay Smar. Homegrown Music will be preempted on April 26 for coverage of the Pennsylvania primary election. Apr. 5 Scott Krokoff. A lawyer by day, Scott Krokoff has been making music for a long time, previously as a member of the band Equinox, which released four albums during the 1990s. In 2007, he renewed his musical career as a solo artist and began a series of solo recordings. An articulate songwriter/lyricist and appealing vocalist, Krokoff recently released an album called Realizations & Declarations, Vol. 2. Several of that album’s songs were previewed on Krokoff’s 2013 Homegrown Music session. This segment is an encore that session.

Apr. 11 A Live Homegrown Music Concert with JUDY KASS and JAY SMAR. WVIA’s monthly two-hour live concert-broadcast series continues with two folk-oriented singer-songwriters who have just released new albums.
Judy Kass is a New York-area artist who was a founder of MusicWorks, a program to provide talented low-income students private lessons and mentoring. After the loss of nearly 300 of her colleagues in the 9/11 attacks, she decided to focus more on music as a way of healing. She recently released her second album Beyond Ash and Steel, and will be performing some of its songs with her small group.	Judy Kass
Jay Smar is no stranger to Homegrown Music. His first appearance on the series was in 1980, and he has kept an active career as a true folk musician, gathering and performing traditional material as well as creating original music, and performing before audiences from classrooms to festivals. He has just released his own new recording Giving Back and will be presenting music from the album as well as his wide repertoire.	Jay Smar

Apr. 12 Stratospheerius. This long-running art rock group, led by electric violin virtuoso Joe Deninzon, who has been called “The Jimi Hendrix of the violin” performs an energetic mixture of rock, bluegrass and funk. This is an encore of the band’s 2007 Homegrown Music session.

Apr. 19 Lines West. Co-led by guitarist John Radzin and multi-instrumentalist Brian Larney, the quartet Lines West perform an appealing mixture of melodic rock with a rootsy tinge. They released their first full album Two of a Perfect Pair last year, and make their Homegrown Music debut with some new non-album material.
