Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. A special feature during March is a Homegrown Jazz segment with the Andy Roberts Trio. Mar. 6 Hilton Park. This is a folk-influenced trio, comprising a father and son (Bruce and Conor Hilton) and family friend (Gregg Pannier). In 2016, they released their third album Moments, which was featured on WVIA’s Mixed Bag. This is an encore of the southern Maine-based group’s debut session for Homegrown Music with nice performances of their appealing original music.

Mar. 16 Potter’s Daughter. This all-new session marks the return of talented pianist, composer, and vocalist Dyanne Potter Voegtlin who first appeared on Homegrown Music in 1992. The new material includes some classical influence as well as sophisticated original material performed with a five piece group including her son Ian and notable jazz bassist Lincoln Goines.

Mar. 20 Jon Fuller. A first-rate young singer-songwriter pianist whose day job is as a classical accompanist, Jon Fuller released his debut album Skipping Away from Dissonance in 2013. It was a Mixed Bag featured album review. This is an encore of his debut 2014 solo session spotlighting his appealing original material.

Mar. 21 A Homegrown Jazz Special with THE ANDY ROBERTS TRIO. From Central PA, Andy Roberts made a number of previous appearances on Homegrown Music in a jazz-rock fusion setting. This time, he performs a nice collection of songs from Broadway in a traditional jazz piano trio setting. Note: Presented during WVIA’s All That Jazz at 7:00 PM.

Mar. 28 Michael Leonhart. A versatile musician from a musical family – his father is the great jazz bassist Jay Leonhart – Michael is a multi-instrumentalist who spent more than 15 years playing trumpet with Steely Dan. He also works as a film composer/orchestrator and worked with actress Meryl Streep, directing a recording in which she read poetry to a score Leonhart created, and he played trumpet on the mega-hit “Uptown Funk” with Bruno Mars. This is an encore of an interesting and creative session from 2007, which includes his wife, jazz vocalist Jamie Leonhart.
