Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. A special feature during May is a live Homegrown Music concert with singer-songwriters Van Wagner and Timothy Zieger on the 14th. May 1 The Marcus Eaton Trio. Marcus Eaton’s music combines virtuosic guitar playing and the musical sophistication of progressive rock with appealing vocals and thoughtful lyrics. Eaton has toured and recorded with David Crosby. This is an encore of a studio session with his trio from 2010.

May 8 Tod Pronto. Singer-songwriter Tod Pronto whose recent third album Hide Away from the Sun has been featured on WVIA’s Mixed Bag program. His music has received national airplay and praise by fellow artists such as Jonathan Edwards. He makes his Homegrown Music debut with a collection of original songs in a solo acoustic context.

May 14 A Homegrown Music Live Concert with VAN WAGNER and TIMOTHY ZIEGER . WVIA’s unique monthly series of live concert broadcasts continues with two outstanding Northeastern Pennsylvania singer-songwriters.
Van Wagner, from Danville, PA, is a remarkably prolific artist who has released 23 albums so far with songs ranging from his experiences as a lumber jack and coal miner, to humorous tunes and songs based on history. His recent CD King of the Quarry is based on the slate mining from the York, PA area in the last century. He returns to Homegrown Music with to perform more from his seemingly endless well of outstanding compositions.

Timothy Zieger, from Factoryville, PA, made his Homegrown Music debut earlier this year with an impressive collection of original material with an acoustic ensemble. In addition to performing and recording, Zieger also conducts regular songwriting workshops. For his first appearance on the Homegrown Music concert series, he will also be joined by his group.

As usual, WVIA’s members are listeners are invited to attend the live broadcast from the station’s Sordoni Theater-Studio. Admission is free by reservation. May 15 Midnight Pilot. A first-rate Americana group, Midnight Pilot’s members include two brothers, and have been making music together since childhood. Their debut eponymous album Midnight Pilot has been featured on WVIA’s Mixed Bag. This is an encore of their 2015 Homegrown Music debut session.

May 22 Cavage and Sudigala. Banjo player David Cavage and guitarist Josh Sudigala are outstanding bluegrass players who have been members of the group Hickory Project. This encore of their debut studio session features the duo performing mostly original music in an intimate duo setting.

May 29 The Bog Swing Band. Multifaceted musician Roy Williams has been involved with numerous groups, including And the Moneynotes and more recently his Brother Roy project. He is also an outstanding swing-style guitarist in the Django Reinhardt style. The Bog Swing Band is an acoustic ensemble doing hot jazz with including standards and original music. This is an encore of their 2011 studio session.
