Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM and Saturdays at 6 PM on WVIA-HD2. July 3 Saso Sandic. A native of Slovenia, singer-songwriter Saso Sandic is an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music. In 2016 he released his debut album Alley Raven, in which he was joined by a number of prominent musicians. This is an encore of Sandic’s Homegrown Music 2017 debut with an all-star backing band, including keyboardist Clifford Carter (of James Taylor’s band), Joe Bonadio (Sting’s drummer), bassist Tony Guarnier (more than a decade with Bob Dylan), and guitarist Oz Noy (Warren Haynes).

July 10 Pi Jacobs. Singer-songwriter Pi Jacobs is an astute lyricist and appealing performer who recently released A Little Blue. This is an encore of her 2013 Homegrown Music session featuring notable jazz drummer Jordan Perlson.

July 17 A Homegrown Music Concert encore with ROGUE CHIMP. During the Homegrown Music live concert series’ summer hiatus, producer George Graham presents rebroadcasts of memorable live performances. This time, it’s a 2014 set by the creative electronic fusion-funk ensemble Rogue Chimp featuring violinist Mark Woodyatt.

July 24 Jack Hardy. The late Jack Hardy, who passed away in 2011 was a prolific and highly influential folk singer-songwriter, who was a founder of Fast Folk musical magazine, and hosted legendary songwriter gatherings which helped to launch the careers of Suzanne Vega, John Gorka, Shawn Colvin and Christine Lavin. Hardy was a regular on Homegrown Music with several appearances. This is an encore of a mid-1980s session featuring some of his memorable songs, with a group including future Railroad Earth founder Todd Sheaffer.

July 31 Celtica. From Central PA, Celtica consists of several long-time regional music veterans, including flutist Flora Eyster performing a new set of traditional and more contemporary folk-influenced music.
