Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM and Saturdays at 6 PM on WVIA-HD2. August features another in the summer concert encore series, plus two all-new segments. Aug. 6 Bindley Hardware Co. A fine roots-rock and country influenced band from Pittsburgh, the group was named after the nearly century-old business founded by the ancestors of leader-singer-songwriter Jon Bindley. The group serves up tasteful original music along with a creative cover in this encore of their 2018 Homegrown Music debut. |
Aug. 13 A Homegrown Music Concert Encore with THE CURRYS. Two brothers and a cousin have been making music together for most of their lives, with outstanding vocal harmonies. They have been gaining increasing national recognition with their touring throughout the US and in Europe, and from their three album releases. This is an encore of their memorable Homegrown Music live concert in 2014. |
Aug. 20 HannaH’s Field. Hannah and Andrew “Bongo Bliss” Ardenski play what they describe as “modern hippie Rasta folk.” It’s an appealing reggae-influenced blend that is featured in their recent album Revolutionary Soldiers. They make their Homegrown Music debut with a collection of their original music played in a light electric setting. |
Aug. 27 Tina Graye. Singer-songwriter Tina Graye last appeared on Homegrown Music in 2008. After more than decade, she has returned with a fine set of new original songs, in which she is joined in this acoustic session by Timothy Zieger, who was also recently a guest on Homegrown Music. |
