Jan. 7 Joe Rollin Porter. A traditional style folksinger and outstanding acoustic guitar picker from Ohio, Porter released a well-received album Take This Hammer in 2018. For his Homegrown Music debut, he performed a set of traditional songs with some excellent guitar work in this encore from 2018. |
Jan 14 Scott Chasolen. A versatile pianist, composer and vocalist, Chasolen spent many years performing with the popular Pink Floyd tribute band The Machine. He has also led a fusion ensemble called ulu. This encore features original songs from three sessions Chasolen did with a trio for Homegrown Music in 2011 and 2012. |
Jan. 21 Don Shappelle and the Pickups. Veteran regional folk and roots musician and songwriter Don Shappelle has been appearing on Homegrown Music since the 1970s. His career has included collaborating with the late Pete Seeger on Seeger’s Clearwater Organization benefits. He returns with a new collection of his original songs working with his long-time band. |
Jan 28 The Sons of Hachaliah Bailey. A distinctive duo from Upstate New York, named after circus pioneer Bailey (or Barnum & Bailey), they serve up a distinctive blend of blues and old-time string-band styles performing their often appealingly quirky songs. |
