Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM and Saturdays at 6 PM on WVIA-HD2. Dec. 8 Brenda Fernandes. A talented composer, keyboardist and vocalist from Scranton, Brenda Fernandes made her Homegrown Music debut in this 2019 session with an enjoyable set of original music inspired by her study of meditative practices. |
Dec. 15 Smash Palace. A durable melodic rock band from the Philadelphia area whose beginnings go back to the early 1980s. This 2006 session features some of their first-rate British-Invasion inspired original music. |
Dec. 22 A Homegrown Music Holiday Anthology. Series producer George Graham presents a set of Christmas music from the Homegrown Music archive, ranging from reverent to novelty. |
Dec. 29 George Wesley. One of the most popular musicians in the region, George Wesley passed away in 2016. Known for his original reggae influenced music, Wesley released numerous albums over his lengthy career. This 2006 Homegrown Music session with his band was one of his best for the series, and formed the basis of his album Hold On. |
