Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM and Saturdays at 6 PM on WVIA-HD2. Jan. 5 David Gelman. A singer-songwriter with a career of over 40 years, David Gelman released an album called Last Surviving Son in 2019. That year, he returned to Homegrown Music with a new batch of his articulate original songs, joined by guitarist Ann Klein, heard in this encore. |
Jan. 12 Pi Jacobs. One of those artists whose work has been heard anonymously by many, Ms. Jacobs has written music for numerous TV productions and commercials on MTV, the Oxygen channel, for Macy's stores and others. In 2020 she released Two Truths and a Lie which has been featured on WVIA's Mixed Bag. This segment is an encore of her 2013 Homegrown Music debut with a collection of original songs, joined by a group that includes bassist Jamie Bishop and acclaimed jazz drummer Jordan Perlson. |
Jan. 19 A Homegrown Music Concert Encore with THE BADLEES. One of the longest running regional bands had an extended association with Homegrown Music. As the Badlees were going their separate ways, they put in a great live concert in 2014, and this edition of Homegrown Music presents that show. |
Jan. 26 Timothy Zieger and Zach Sprowls. From Factoryville, PA, near Scranton, singer-songwriter-guitarist Timothy Zieger has made three recent appearances on appearance on Homegrown Music. This one, from late 2019, features a duo with pianist Zach Sprowls, for some very appealing original songs by Zieger. |
