May 4 Don Shappelle and the Pickups. Popular regional folk-rock singer-songwriter Don Shappelle is one of Homegrown Music’s longest-running guests, making his first appearance at a young age in the 1970s. He is known for his songs incorporating history and is a strong advocate for the environment of the Susquehanna River. This 2019 session is his most recent work with his long-running quartet in semi-electric setting. |
May 11 Jamie O’Brien and Henry Koretzky. Central PA traditional folk musician and mandolinist Henry Koretzky and British-born guitarist-vocalist Jamie O’Brien have had a long-running collaboration. This an encore of their 2019 Homegrown Music debut as a duo with a collection of mainly traditional songs from both sides of the Atlantic. |
May 18 Ian McFeron. A fine roots-rock artist whose 2013 seventh album Time Will Take You has been spotlighted on WVIA's Mixed Bag program, Seattle-based Ian McFeron paid Homegrown Music a visit during his tour through the region at the time. He was joined by fiddler Alisa Milner in a nice collection of original songs. |
May 25 Goodbye Girl Friday. A jazzy keyboard based trio led by singer-songwriter Dave Sherman, the group later became known as Edison with the Weather. They show their influence by groups like Steely Dan in this 2002 archival edition of Homegrown Music featuring the group’s appealing original songs. |
