Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM and Saturdays at 6 PM on WVIA-HD2.A special presentation during March is a live concert with the The Empty Pockets and Last Charge of the Light Horse on the 15th. Mar. 7 Saso Sandic. A Slovenian native, Saso Sandic (pronounced “sasho sahnditch”) sounds like a thoroughly American rock singer-songwriter. In 2016 he released his debut album Alley Raven which received national airplay and critical praise. This encore of his Homegrown Music debut features the help of an impressive backing band: keyboard man Clifford Carter of James Taylor’s band, bassist Tony Garnier, who spent over a decade with Bob Dylan, drummer/percussionist Joe Bonadio, of Sting’s band, and guitarist and producer Oz Noy, who has worked with many artists over the years. The result is a memorable session.

Mar. 14 Poor Man’s Gambit. Leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, Homegrown Music presents an encore of a trio from the Lehigh Valley led by Corey Purcell. Poor Man’s Gambit perform first rate traditional-style Celtic music in this 2020 session, in one of the last sessions before the COVID shutdown.

The Empty Pockets are an outstanding Americana-style group who are known for their melodic, sometimes witty original songs. They have also worked with several major figures, most recently serving as backup band for Al Stewart. The Empty Pockets recently released Outside Spectrum and will be debuting a new single to be issued on the day of the concert.	The Empty Pockets at WVIA in 2022
Last Charge of the Light Horse is a vehicle for the thoughtful, often contemplative songs of Jean-Paul Vest. They will be performing songs from their new album Octet. The two-hour concert will be broadcast live on WVIA Radio, and streaming at wvia.org/radio, starting at 8:00 PM, and free audience seating reservations may be obtained at http://wvia.org/events. Mar. 21 Marcus Eaton Trio. A highly distinctive singer-songwriter, who toured collaborated, and co-wrote songs with the late David Crosby, appears with his band in a 2010 session that combines Eaton’s airy tenor in a jazzy progressive rock trio with acoustic guitar including some flamenco influence.

Mar. 28 David Gelman. A singer-songwriter with a career of over 40 years, David Gelman released an album called Last Surviving Son in 2019. That year, he returned to Homegrown Music with a new batch of his articulate original songs, joined by guitarist Ann Klein, heard in this encore.
